University of Michigan has placed Provost Martin A. Philbert on administrative leave following multiple allegations of sexual misconduct. According to reports, Philbert is facing several allegations of sexual misconduct, which were brought to the University on January 16 and 17.  Philbert has been with the University since 1995 and was appointed provost in 2017.  U of M President Mark Schlissel has pledged a “full and thorough investigation.”  The Division of Public Safety and Security as well as an outside law firm have been reviewing the allegations.

The recent accusations against Philbert come on the heels of sexual misconduct complaints made against two other U of M professors: Stephen Shipps and David Daniels.
