Michigan Association for Justice SEMINARWEB August 14, 2019, Noon EST
I will be sharing my thoughts on representing survivors of sexual assault during a webinar sponsored by the Michigan Association for Justice, August 14, 2019, at noon EST. My focus will be on recognizing claims, investigating those claims, exercising long-term patience and discretion, and other methods and techniques the Grewal Law firm used while representing 111 girls and young women of the initial 333 survivors to achieve a $500 million settlement with Michigan State University.
During my presentation I will discuss how blogging on the Legal Examiner platform, which is operated by the InjuryBoard network, helped me become the expert on the claims and helped us to spread the message. We would not have been able to accomplish what we did without the help of many investigative journalists, local, regional, statewide, national, and international hard-working people.
I will do my best to explain how Larry Nassar was able to molest over 500 survivors that we know of, so likely well over 1,000 girls and young women. I will talk about how MSU, the US Olympic Committee, USA Gymnastics, some other individuals and even the FBI failed to protect the young athletes. Time permitting, I will discuss the 2014 Title IX investigation and reports involving a survivor. If you can’t listen in live, I will try to provide a link when available.
