While it can't make your hair grow back, Propecia promise to stop the speed of hairloss, which is welcome news for men that are watching that bald spot on the back of their head quickly appear. However, would you be willing to give up your sex life for vanity's sake? According to recent reports, the Propecia warning label does not adequately warn users of the serious sexual side effects of taking the drug.

But now the Food and Drug Administration is requiring that Merck, the maker of Propecia, change the label to include the adverse effects that can occur. The new Propecia label will include warnings of "libido disorders, ejaculation disorders, and orgasm disorders that continue after discontinuation of the use of the drug. In addition, the label will also include warnings that use can lead to decreased male fertility and poor semen quality.

Another drug, Proscar, which is used to treat an enlarged prostate will also receive a new warning label. Proscar is linked to adverse side effects including decreased libido. Last year, both drugs received new labels warning of erectile dysfuntion and an increased risk of developing prostate cancer. The active ingredient finasteride is attributed to these side effects. However, Merck maintains that "Propecia and Proscar are generally well tolerated and effective for their respective intended uses in accordance with their approved product labeling."
