While showing off their luxury vehicles, a group of sports car enthusiasts in Japan got an expected surprise when one driver in their lineup tried to accelerate around the other vehicles and instead struck the meridian and caused a massive pileup. The damages are estimated at over $1 million dollars.
The motorists were out on the freeway to show off their Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Mercedes, among other expensive vehicles, when one of the drivers decided to try to change lanes. However, instead of successfully changing lanes, the driver struck the meridian. That car started to spin across the freeway and the other vehicles collided with one another while trying to get out of the way of the out-of-control motorist.
Luckily, no one was seriously injured but police say that several drivers were taken to the hospital for minor injuries. A tow truck driver brought to the scene says that the pileup was one of the most expensive he’s ever witnessed. In Japan, even a used Ferrari can cost around $100,000 or more, meaning the damages in this accident could exceed $1 million. Police say a total of 14 cars were involved in the accident and were on the freeway at the same time because they were on their way to nearby Hiroshima.
