A Polk County, Florida jury awarded Kendra Lymon, $65 million in damages for injuries resulting from an August 2007 car crash. This marks the largest jury verdict in Polk County history. Kendra Lymon, a college student, was seriously injured when her Dodge Neon was struck by a tractor trailer owned by Bynum Transport. Both Ms. Lymon and the part-time driver of the tractor trailer, a battalion chief for Polk County Fire Services, claimed they had a green light. However, at trial Ms. Lymon’s lawyers presented an eye witness attesting to the lawful right-of-way for their client. The jury found the truck driver and the truck company 100% at fault. The accident left Ms .Lymon in a coma and hospitalized for several months. She continues to require constant attention and care, and needs assistance with simple daily living tasks such as walking, bathing, and going to the bathroom.
