A man’s joyride in a stolen vehicle ended with a crash at Court One Athletic Club on Lake Lansing Road. The man told DeWitt Township police he thought he was in a dream. That officer had initially caught the man going 55 miles per hour in a 25 mile per hour speed zone on April 12, 2010 at approximately 10:50 p.m.

After pulling the vehicle over, the officer must have been scratching his head as the vehicle pulled away while the officer walked towards the car. A chase ensued. Luckily, nobody was injured during the chase that included the driver going over a ditch, spinning out, and at one point driving in the direction of the officer.

After finally crashing the vehicle, which was reported stolen from a Meijer parking lot, the man was ordered to lay on the ground by the officer. The officer noticed white powder on the man’s lips and a smell of intoxicants. The man was charged with numerous crimes after being taken to Clinton County Jail.
