Last Friday, television megastar Oprah Winfrey hosted a moving special featuring some 200 male survivors of sex abuse. The episode was the first in a two-part series addressing this painful topic and focusing on the healing process of those brave victims who have chosen to come forward. The second installment of the television event will air this coming Friday, November 12.

Many of the survivors featured on the show suffered their abuse at the hands of clergy members. Oprah’s show is an important step in the healing process for these men, who have suffered in shame and silence for decades. Hopefully, show will not only assist these survivors in their recovery process, but also bring attention to the need to hold the perpetrators of these acts accountable.

Oprah is decades too late with this show. One would have to be a fool to believe that sitting in the audience and clapping has anything to do with "healing".

I view Oprah & Tyler Perry as a horse 'n pony show.

  2. She is years ahead of the people that caused these horrible incidents. It is important that people who suffered the abuse, saw, or suspected that something was happening get the message that they can come forward.
