According to recent reports, Johnson & Johson is expanding a recall of Tylenol Arthritis Pain Relief Caplets packaged in bottles with "ez-open" caps after consumers complained of a moldy smell that has caused some to experience nausea and sickness.
As of Monday, The Food and Drug Administration website reports that Johnson & Johnson is recalling all product lots of the Arthritis Pain Relief Caplets 100-count bottle with the "ez-open" red caps.
Johnson & Johnson already recalled five lots last month after consumers complained of the same moldy smell associated with the current recalled Tylenol Arthritis Pain Relief Caplets. Although J & J claims that the musty, mildew-like odor is not a serious health threat, consumers have complained of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach pain from the moldy smell. The company recently stated that it believed the products were contaminated by the breakdown of a chemical in the wooden pallets used to ship the medicine.
