Several months ago we posted an article about the importance of child safety seats. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has just released a list of thirteen booster seats that do not provide adequate protection in the event of a car crash. Included in the IIHS release was a list of ten booster seats that do provide a safe restraint for children.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration provides a list of certified technicians to help you ensure the best fit for your booster seat. The NHTSA also tracks product recalls. The Michigan State Police website offers several other helpful safety resources.

Remember, the best way to stay safe is to avoid an accident in the first place. Unfortunately, car crashes do happen, and it is important to take every possible step to keep you and your family safe.
