Halloween is this Saturday, meaning thousands of
childrenrobots, princesses, and superheroes will be roaming our communities for tricks and treats. And while this holiday is a favorite for many kids, that much foot traffic after sunset can cause some problems. Follow a few simple safety tips to help keep Halloween fun, safe, and enjoyable for everyone:
- Cross the street at crosswalks and use traffic signals and never dart into the street without looking
- Travel in groups – kids under 12 should be accompanied by an adult
- Use reflective tape on costumes and carry a flashlight
- Costumes should fit well – no dragging fabric that could cause a fall – and avoid masks that obstruct vision
- Never enter a stranger’s house and visit only well-lit houses
- Adults should inspect the Halloween haul and only factory-wrapped treats should be eaten
