Firefighters had to use numerous power tools to rescue a young girl whose arm was caught in a pool drain at a condominium complex in Key Biscane, Florida.
Back in January I wrote about the fact that many pool operators were slow to implement the changes to pool drainage systems mandated by Congress in the Pool and Spa Safety Act. Many of the changes required to public pools included the use of guards to drains, and it seems possible that today’s incident could have been avoided by a guard to the pool’s skimmer drainage system.
