An Allendale Township, 4-year-old boy died Sunday, a day after falling 15 feet out of a second story window. The boy died from internal head injuries at the Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital. Not even three years ago, the boys brother fell out of the same window and was badly injured.

As the warm weather approaches, more windows remain opened and the risk of these falls increases. If you decide to leave your windows open with young children around, it is important to take precautionary steps like, installing window guards, removing furniture near windows, setting rules with your children about playing near windows, and most importantly do not rely on insect screens to prevent falls.
