A 32-year-old woman from Phoenix, AZ died tragically in the early hours of past Saturday morning after the car she was riding in crashed into a light pole.  Police have identified the women as Bethany Skipper.

The car accident happened at about 12:30 a.m. last Saturday morning at the intersection of Main Street and Capitol Avenue in Lansing.  Bethany was a passenger in the backseat of a vehicle driven by a 22-year-old Lansing woman, who was taken to the hospital with critical, but non-life- threatening injuries.  The other passenger that was riding in the front seat received only minor injuries.

Police concluded that speed was the primary factor in the accident, and that the car was traveling at such a fast speed when it hit the cement pole, that the pole toppled over onto the car.  However, the police investigation is still ongoing and they are awaiting results to see if drugs or alcohol played a factor.
