Just over a week ago, the US Supreme Court issued its ruling in Wyeth v. Levine, essentially piercing the shield of national drug industry immunity. In nearly every state, the victims of dangerous and deadly drugs can now collect against pharmaceutical companies for violations of state laws. In Michigan, however, drug companies still enjoy freedom from liability as long as their products comply with Food and Drug Administration (FDA) standards.

"Access Denied?" is a film that could change that. This documentary traces the story of Diana Levine and delves into the issues of corporate accountability and the courts’ role in protecting ordinary citizens. Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, is hosting a screening on March 26 at 6:30 p.m. If you are unable to attend this event, you can order a copy of the film free of charge.
