On December 5, 2008, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recalled 173 teddy bears with chocolate bars after finding Melamine in samples.  The bars have been sold in Walgreen’s stores since September 2008.

The product is described as a 9-inch high Dressy Teddy Bear (pdf) with 4 oz. chocolate bar.  The product’s UPC number is 047475864485, and the product tag also includes the item number 291332.

Common symptoms that may indicate a melamine contamination include: irritability, blood in urine, little or no urine, signs of kidney infection and high blood pressure.

For additional information, visit the Walgreen’s website.  If you purchased one of these bears, dispose of it immediately to ensure that your children are safe this holiday season.
