Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS) can be a life-threatening condition affecting the skin and causing cell death. This severe allergic reaction has been linked to a number of drugs, ranging from over-the-counter Children’s Motrin to an anti-epileptic (Dilantin) and antibiotics prescribed by doctors. If the condition associated with these drugs is not rapidly and aggressively treated, SJS can develop into the more severe form of the disease known as toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN), which has a mortality rate approaching 40%.

Petitions to the federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have been filed by parents and family members of people who have been afflicted with SJS or TEN. The family members are concerned that the drug makers have not properly warned the public of the dangers associated with their products.

If you or a loved one has been affected by one of these conditions, contact us to see if we can help. The drug industry takes on a lot of responsibility when it places a drug on the market – manufacturers must be held accountable if they don’t act responsibly.
