Earlier this year, I blogged about bicycle safety in Michigan. The State of Michigan takes this topic seriously and earlier this month ran a bicycle safety enforcement campaign.
The campaign involved 5 cities, selected because of their incidence of bike-related traffic collisions. Between September 9 and 15, law enforcement issued warnings and citations to motorists and bicyclists in Dearborn, Grand Rapids, Muskegon, Warren, and Lansing. In addition, bicycle safety brochures were distributed to educate people about bicycle and pedestrian safety issues. The results of the safety campaign can be found here.
Summer and early fall have seen pleasant weather so far in Michigan, and with some schools beginning in-person instruction it is likely bicycle traffic will continue to be an issue on Michigan roadways.
Growing up in East Grand Rapids, Michigan, Nolan Erickson began working at Church Wyble PC in 2007 as a law clerk. Now as an attorney with Grewal Law, Mr. Erickson has developed extensive experience with all phases of trial and pre-trial resolution of personal injury matters, including major auto accident, medical malpractice, and other serious injury cases.
