Woman Falls Into Crocodile Infested Waters from Bungee Cord

Comments Off

At least one vacationer in Africa is happy to be alive. Recent reports outlined how an Australian woman survived a treacherous fall from a bungee cord that snapped and left her in white water rapids infested with crocodiles. She amazingly swam to shore with her feet still tied together with the bungee cord and lived to tell the tale.

Erin Langworthy, age 22, was vacationing in Africa and decided to participate in a bungee jump. She jumped 364 feet from a bridge above the Zambezi River, which is located between Zimbabwe and Zambia. Everything was going fine when the resistance of the bungee caused the rope to snap, leaving Erin freefalling from the sky into the river below. She told news reporters of her terrifying swim through the river and how the rope tying her feet together got caught on the rocks and debris below the surface of the water several times as she was attempting to swim. Thankfully, she made it to the Zambia side of the river relatively unscathed.

A Zambian information minister maintains that bungee jumping is still very safe and that this is the first time such an incident occured since the activity began 10 years ago in the area. He also claims that 50,000 tourists take the same jump every year. The video below captures the whole ordeal in detail, including the moment the rope snapped.
