Penn State Community Rallies Around Cheerleader That Fell 39 Feet From Apartment

Comments Off

If Penn State is in the news lately, it's usually connected to the horror and tragedy of Jerry Sandusky and the child sex abuse case. However, another tragedy is bringing together the students of Penn State in a positive and inspiring way when sophomore cheerleader Paige Raque fell 39 feet from a fifth-story window in the apartment where she lives on Saturday night.

Raque is in critical condition at a hospital and she has no short or long-term prognosis. However, the Penn State community has come together to support Paige and her family in their time of distress. Using the hashtag #prayforpaige, hundreds of Tweets have flooded in from football players, cheerleaders and others from across the country.

It seems that Penn State has been a bastion for hope in the midst of terrible tragedy. As the victims of Sandusky's crimes continue to heal, Paige's brother, Parker, also says that his sister will heal with the help of the Penn State community. Although it will be a long haul for Paige, recent news says that she is already improving and opened her eyes yesterday. In addition to the support from other Penn State fans, students, and athletes, Penn State football coach Bill O' Brien intends on reaching out to Paige and her family.
