Consumer Safety: Yamaha Rhino Recall

Comments Off

After the United States Consumer and Product Safety Commission investigated 50 accidents involving 46 driver and passenger deaths due to Yamaha Rhino models 450, 660, and 700, Yamaha has issued a free repair. The CPSC advises against using the off-road vehicle until they are repaired.

The Yamaha repair includes the "installation of a spacer on the rear wheels as well as the removal of the rear anti-sway bar to help reduce the chance of rollover and improve vehicle handling, and continued installation of half doors and additional passenger handholds where these features have not been previously installed to help keep occupants’ arms and legs inside the vehicle during a rollover and reduce injuries."

If you are an owner of a Yamaha Rhino, schedule an appointment with your dealer for the free repair. Additionally, because all Rhino users should wear a seatbelt and helmet, Yamaha is giving away free helmets.
