If you were duped into purchasing a pair of Skecher's Shape Ups, the shoes that promise to give you a butt like Kim Kardashian while you walk around doing your daily business, then you might be wondering how to get your piece of the recent $40 million settlement that the company agreed to after their claims were debunked. Luckily, it's pretty simple to get your refund.

Anyone who purchased the company's line of Shape-Up, Resistance Runners, Tone-Ups or Toners shoes is entitled to a partial refund. Consumers are urged to submit a claim at www.skecherssettlement.com and provide any information they can including recollections of the purchase, a credit card receipt, or any other documentation. One of the problems is that consumers do not need proof of purchase to receive a credit, although they will need to sign documentation asserting to the federal government that they purchased a pair of the shoes.

Despite the settlement, which was reached after the Federal Trade Commission sued Skechers, some consumer advocacy groups say that the $40 million is a drop in the bucket in comparison to the amount of money that Skechers made from their Shape-Up line–an estimated $1 billion in 2010 alone. They fear that companies like Skechers will continue to market products with bogus claims of weight loss or other extravagant promises and write off settlements as the cost of doing business.

I saw the TV commercials on how easy it is to shape up and loose even wight by every day walking. When I went into the store the salesperson showed me movies and really encouraged me that these shoes work, so I purchased a pair. I have not seen any difference. I am happy someone is taking a stand on this matter.
