Concerned Parents Sue Over Pampers DryMax Diapers

When a concerned parent started a Facebook page over Pampers DryMax Diapers, which she was convinced were causing her children’s severe diaper rash, she did not get the type of response she expected from the manufacturer, Procter & Gamble. Instead, Procter & Gamble lashed out against the mother who constructed the page “Pampers Bring Back the Old Cruisers/Swaddlers” (which had more than 9,000 members by May 18) and maintained that the accusations were being “perpetuated by a small number of parents…some of whom support competitors’ products or cloth diapers”.

Nevertheless, it looks like it’s too bad for Procter & Gamble—concerned parents have started up a class-action lawsuit against the company, which was filed in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio on May 11. The action comes after complaints that updated Pampers Swaddlers and Cruisers Diapers with the new Dry Max technology allegedly caused burns and severe rashes on infants or toddlers who wore the product.

Additionally, the Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada are investigating the complaints. However, Procter & Gamble stands by their original claims that the parents’ lawsuit is “meritless” and that they are confident that they will prevail in the matter.
